Shraddha / Tithi Puja

This ritual is performed to honor departed ancestors on their death anniversary or auspicious tithi. Spiritually, it offers peace to the souls of ancestors, strengthens familial bonds, and invokes blessings for the devotee’s well-being and spiritual growth.

Materials required from Devotees:
  • Pitra Tarpan Plate – for offerings to ancestors
  • Rice grains – uncooked, used for Tarpan
  • Black sesame seeds (Til) – very important
  • Cooked rice or Pinda (rice balls) – as offerings
  • Fruits – Banana, coconut, seasonal fruits
  • Flowers – marigold, hibiscus, or fresh seasonal flowers
  • Oil or ghee lamps (Deepam)
  • Betel leaves and betel nuts
Materials supplied by Temple:
  • Puja Idol / Picture – optional
  • Incense sticks (Agarbatti)
  • Camphor (Karpooram)
  • Sandalwood paste (Chandanam)
  • Turmeric powder (Haldi) and Kumkum (Vermilion)
